I'm Ahmed Zaki, a Burlington resident of nine years and a technology professional with more than 15 years of experience in IT consulting, leadership, client service and problem-solving.
Throughout my career, I've worked with organizations and teams to understand complex challenges, improve services and deliver measurable results. I also contribute to a Halton-based nonprofit focused on workforce development and employment readiness.
I'm a first-time candidate for elected office, running to bring an independent, thoughtful and results-focused perspective to the HDSB board table.

School boundaries, enrolment, facilities and transportation can significantly affect students and families, including through the Burlington Central-Nelson boundary review involving Tecumseh Public School.

What Does a Trustee Do?
Governance, not day-to-day management
A trustee is not a teacher, principal or school administrator. It's a governance and community representation role.
I don't claim to know more about teaching than teachers. What I bring is a complementary perspective: leadership, technology, business experience, stakeholder management, problem-solving and a strong focus on accountability.
Trustees are expected to:
- Focus on student achievement and well-being
- Consult parents and students
- Bring community concerns to the board
- Participate in board and committee decisions
- Support the board's strategic direction
- Entrust day-to-day management to staff
Representing Burlington Families
My responsibility as trustee would be to understand the concerns of Burlington students, parents and school communities and bring those perspectives to the board table.
